Go to the beautiful and joyful Khlong Ong Ang, a new public space in the heart of the city.

Throughout this period, many people may have become more familiar with the term Khlong Ong Ang. And of course, many people have visited the new landmark in the middle of the city, Khlong Ong Ang. As a result, we have seen images of this place floating around on various online channels and social media.

Khlong Ong Ang is a landscaping project by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration itself, which has transformed the area of Khlong Nam Nao into a beautiful canal with (almost) clear water, a new place for walking and doing activities, or it can be called a public space that is full of interesting things, no less than other “senior” places.

Divided in between is a moderately wide canal, along with a canal walkway about 750 meters long on both sides, which is an area open for shops to set up shop for people who come to walk in the area. There are small live performances such as playing music, singing, etc., as well as art, graffiti, densely covering the walls along the walkway for people to see.

And what is an exciting highlight for Bangkokians who come to walk is the “Kayaking Activity”, which offers free rental of boats and equipment, plus basic paddling lessons from the team. This kayaking activity has become of great interest to visitors to this area, perhaps due to the “surprise” of having the opportunity to kayak even though it is in the heart of Bangkok. Many people may think that paddling may require traveling to other provinces or natural places.

It is great to see that our urban spaces are being put to good use in so many ways, and it is providing more public spaces, more choices for people, and it is also a point where people can connect to kayaks, even if it is not for a long time. But after all, if there is a starting point, many things will surely follow sooner or later.
